We're Dave & Sarah, and along with our dog, Truffle, we're moving from San Francisco to Munich. We're sad to leave the greatest city ever, but so excited to gallop around Europe as a married team, the Family Penndorf.

Dave is getting transferred from his company's SF office to Munich, and Sarah will work remotely. With a 9-hour time difference, that part is going to be hard. We don't really speak German, but we're good at drinking bier and making friends with new neighbors. And we love the mountains - in the winter, spring, summer, and fall. Munich, not coincidentally, is adjacent to the Alps.

This blog will chronicle our journeys - all the good times, and the bad. The moments when we understand how Europeans got it right with going local. The many days we know we'll be lonely and missing our SF tribe. The beauty of snowboarding in the Bavarian Alps, intrigue of watching a nation redefine itself as its softened borders welcome refugees. Our weekend adventures to Berlin and Paris, London and Milan. Oh, and we promise to find - and report back - on where to find the very best sauerkraut in all of Deutschland.

Our hope is that posting thoughts, musings, and photos will keep our friends and family up on all things D, S, and T. So don't be strangers: read often, come visit, and install Skype on your phone.
